Great to see the scaffolding coming down from the Bistro, in lovely sunny Treorchy today. Things are finally starting to take shape. The outside of the Bistro Café Hotel is looking clean and crisp and back to its former glory. With a brand new roof, anthracite grey upvc windows and a fresh coat of paint, it is certainly starting to look the part. We are looking forward to focussing on the interior and creating a beautiful venue in the heart of the Rhondda for everyone to enjoy.
The old Cardiff arms is now unrecognisable on the inside. The iconic building has been stripped back to bare brick ready for the refurbishment. The planning, preparation and hard graft pave the way for the more exciting interior design. We'll soon start to see the new Bistro Cafe Hotel taking shape. Keep your eyes open for more pics and updates in the near future.
It was a pleasure to meet Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood and councillors Emyr Webster & Alison Chapman yesterday at the Bistro. We had a positive discussion regarding the plans for the development of the Bistro and the surrounding area. Leanne and some of her team visited the former Cardiff Arms building in Treorchy to take a look around and to better understand our vision for the Bistro and what we hope to bring to the area. We are keen to attract overseas visitors, especially European cyclists and hikers, to take advantage of our fantastic mountains above the Valleys. Treorchy is a thriving town in South Wales and we hope the Bistro will not only unite the community but also encourage more tourism in the area by providing somewhere to eat, sleep and drink in the heart of the town. We are working with local companies like Highstreet Media and www.philip-warren.com/Philip Warren photography in order to promote Treorchy and the Rhondda aswell as the Bistro. We are very excited by what lies ahead!!!!
We are very pleased to welcome award winning architectural company - Darkin Architects, into our Bistro family. Darkin Architects have an established history of working with commercial and retail businesses and are as excited about the Bistro as we are. They were established in 1996 as JGB Darkin Architect, the practice became Darkin Architects in 2008 when ownership was passed to David Llewelyn Darkin. In 2009, Darkin Architects became an RIBA Chartered Architect's Practice, recognition of the quality and professional standards of the business. Darkin Architects is headed by David Darkin, leading a team of qualified staff. Darkin will head up the development on the building from here on in - so watch this space for more sneak peaks and some architectural drawings of the plans.
Welcome to our website, here you'll find information and updates on the progress of the Bistro Cafe-Hotel. The transformation work is already underway, with the roof currently being renewed before any internal renovations can begin. We sent in a photographer to capture the state of the building as it is today (please see our gallery page for images). In the coming weeks and months we will be posting more progress photos as the project starts to develop. We are proud to be using local companies to carry out the work on the Bistro, namely, Property Plus Wales for all their help and support, Highstreet Media for their exceptional marketing of the Bistro so far, Philip Warren Photography for his amazing photographs, Roof Top tiling, A&B Carpentry, Cornerstone Finance and Cwm Rhondda Ales Brewery, with their help I'm sure the Bistro will be a huge success for everyone.
